When we won promotion to the Premier League in 2016 with a 1-0 win against QPR, the referee was Jon Moss who went on to referee our next home game as we kicked off the following season with a 1-0 defeat against Swansea City.

He’s only been back to the Turf twice since, both for games against the two Manchester clubs, but he’s back today to referee the Spurs game and he arrives having lifted himself into 16th place in RATE THE REF, above all of Paul Tierney, Oliver Langford, Peter Bankes and Tim Robinson, with a rating of 57.50 out of 100. He’s even lost the tag of having the worst average score for fitness and positioning, claimed by the Robinson who now holds the lowest score in all four disciplines.

His improved score is on the back of a good performance at Old Trafford when he last refereed us in January as we finally beat Manchester United again in their own back yard, only our second Premier League win with him as referee.

Today will see Moss referee for the 25th time this season. Of those previous 24, 18 have come in the Premier League with the other four in cup games.; he hasn’t refereed a Football League game since December 2018. In those 24 games there have been 76 yellow and two red cards. Of those yellows, 39 have gone to home team players and 37 to away team players. The two players he has sent off this season are Morgan Schneiderlin (Everton) in a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace and Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles in a 3-2 home win against Aston Villa.

The fourth official today is Andy Madley who refereed last week’s game at Newcastle. Craig Pawson is our VAR official and he’s refereed just one Burnley game this season, that being the 1-1 draw at Wolves back in August.
