Burnley’s Swedish striker Joel Mumbongo is one of eight players who has been nominated for the November Player of the Month in Premier League 2.

The selections are made by the respective team coaches who, after each game, select who they thought was the best player from the opposing team with the players with the most votes then nominated for the Premier League Development Panel to decide on a winner.

The shortlist for November is: Liam Delap (Manchester City), Alfie Matthews (Crystal Palace), Liam Miller (Liverpool), Nikolaj Moller (Arsenal), Joel Mumbongo (Burnley), Jaden Philogene-Bidace (Aston Villa), Arnau Puigmal (Manchester United) and Jean-Pierre Tiehi (Fulham). Six of those players are forwards while the other two, Matthews and Puigmal are midfielders.

The Premier League said of Mumbongo in the announcement of the nominations: “Mumbongo, 21, netted a stoppage-time equaliser as Burnley drew 2-2 with Aston Villa. He then scored the winner in the 2-1 victory against Fulham and was denied a third goal in November by a brilliant Jon McCracken penalty save in a 0-0 draw versus Norwich City.”

Previous winners this season are Sam Greenwood (Leeds) in September and Cole Palmer (Manchester City) in October.
