Vitinho has today signed a new four-year deal with the Clarets which is, in effect a one year extension to the contract he signed when joining the Clarets.

He signed for Burnley from Cercle Brugge on the day before we opened our promotion season at Huddersfield and made his debut in that game at Huddersfield, coming on as a substitute for Dara Costelloe on 74 minutes to become the first Brazilian to play for the club.

He went on to play in 35 of our league games last season, proving a vital member of the squad with Vincent Kompany using him in a variety of positions.

This season, he played in the opening game against Manchester City but suffered an injury in the League Cup tie at Nottingham Forest before, fit again, making his return at Salford this week.

A delighted Vitinho said on signing the new deal: “I’m really pleased to extend my contract here. I have enjoyed every minute of being at Burnley and can’t wait to see what the future holds. The fans have been amazing to me and made me feel welcome ever since I joined. I look forward to making more special memories with them.”
