Having treated the first two pre-season friendlies as if they were a state secret, Burnley FC have now confirmed that the next game will be played against Preston North End at Deepdale in two days time.

We will go into the game without three of the players who featured yesterday in the games against Shrewsbury and Tranmere. Both goalkeepers, Nick Pope and Bailey Peacock-Farrell are now away on international duty with England and Northern Ireland respectively while Robbie Brady has joined up with the Republic of Ireland. Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson will, however, be available after he and Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson opted not to join up with Iceland for their forthcoming games against England and Belgium.

Preston have already started their season; yesterday they beat Mansfield  4-0 in the first round of the League Cup.

Kick off at Deepdale is 2 p.m. and the game will be played behind closed doors so not quite so many Burnley fans as were there when we last played them in a league game as shown above.
