All the talk yesterday morning, once the passing game of Real Sociedad had been dissected, was of FC Metz winger Yeni Ngbakoto who had suddenly, according to some sources, come under Burnley’s radar.

Ngbakoto had looked set to sign for QPR before Wolves moved in to potentially gazump them, but it was reported that the player was keen to come to England and more so to play in the Premier League.

All the potential terrace songs were discussed along with the obligatory YouTube videos to show what a good player he is, but at around 9 p.m. last night our hopes of signing him were dashed, as were those of Wolves, when QPR confirmed his arrival.

He’s penned a three year deal with the Championship club with QPR claiming they had beaten stiff competition for his signature from a number of clubs, including Premier League sides.

Burnley’s chase for new players, meanwhile, continues with the Clarets now just six days away from the first Premier League game of the season against Swansea City.
