gawthorpe-signBurnley’s development squad and youth team will both be involved in cup competitions next month with the dev squad facing Liverpool and the youth team drawn against Rochdale.

The development squad are scheduled to play Cardiff at home on Monday 7th November in the Premier League Cup, and this game will kick off at 2 p.m. at Turf Moor, but, having received a bye in the first round, we’ve been given an away tie against Liverpool in the 2nd round of the Lancashire Senior Cup.

This tie will be played on Wednesday 23rd November with a 7 p.m. kick off. The venue has yet to be confirmed but it is expected that it will be played at Prenton Park, home of National League club Tranmere Rovers.

Our 2-1 win against Scunthorpe last Saturday has taken the youth team into the last eight of the Northern section of the Youth Alliance Cup. The draw has been made and that has confirmed that only the group winners plus the best second place club, and that’s Blackpool, have gone through.

We’ve been fortunate to get a home draw and our opponents will be Rochdale who have already beaten us this season at Gawthorpe, winning the league game 2-0 with two goals in two second half minutes.

This tie, along with the other three, will be played on the morning of Saturday 12th November at Gawthorpe with an 11 a.m. kick off.

The draws for these two competitions are

Lancashire Senior Cup

Accrington v Southport
Barrow v Bury
Blackburn v Oldham
Bolton v Preston
Fleetwood v Wigan
Liverpool v Burnley
Rochdale v Everton

Youth Alliance Cup

Burnley v Rochdale
Morecambe v Blackpool
Port Vale v Hartlepool
Wigan v Burton
