O’Neill Roaring into Brisbane
Just a week ago we reported that Aiden O’Neill was expected to sign a new deal at Burnley and then return home to Australia to spend another year there on loan, this time with Brisbane Roar.
The 20-year-old has done just that. The news is set to be confirmed and he’ll join Robbie Fowler’s squad after penning what Up the Clarets believes is a new one year deal at Burnley that includes an option for a further year.
Speaking to the Australian media, O’Neill has said: “To be back in my home city and be able to play in front of my family and friends means a lot to me. I’m really excited to get started at Brisbane. It’s a great opportunity to play under Robbie (Fowler) who had such an immense career. It was something I was really excited to be involved in.”
O’Neill made his first team debut at Burnley as a substitute in the 2016 2-0 victory against Liverpool. He made another two substitute appearances in the Premier League and two cup appearances, including a start at Accrington in the League Cup. He spent last season on loan with Central Coast Mariners and now returns to spend another year in Australia.
