Only the north group were in action during the last week in the Professional Development League with the games starting last Friday and ending last night at Hillsborough when Sheffield Wednesday won the battle of the top two against Sheffield United.

1718 burnley oliver younger 00 500x500The two sides went into the game level on points and United went in front, but it was Wednesday who took the points and claimed a three point lead at the top of the north group with a 2-1 victory.

Two games were played on Friday but it was all eyes on the bottom of the league two days ago when the bottom two, Burnley and Huddersfield, clashed at Turf Moor, both eyeing a win to get up the table.

As previously reported, the game ended in a 3-3 draw which was expected to at least draw us level with Bolton who, at the same time, had a tough game against form team Hull. But that game certainly didn’t go as expected with Bolton hitting Hull for six including a hat trick from Connor Hall.

We, therefore, remain bottom, behind Huddersfield on goal difference but only one point behind both Crewe and Leeds.

This week sees a full fixture list, north and south, being played with six games on Friday and the other four to be played next Monday. That includes our away game at Birmingham who beat Leeds 3-1 last Friday.

The player photographed is central defender Oliver Younger who scored our opening goal against Huddersfield.
