Palace performance earns Tarky the player of the month
James Tarkowski was second in the man of the match vote from our 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace last Saturday and won the player ratings with the points awarded giving him the player of the month title for February.
His 19% share of the man of the match vote was beaten by Aaron Lennon who won 24% of the vote. Wout Weghorst was third with a 17% share while Ben Mee took fourth place with 10% of the vote.
Those same four players finished in the top four in the player ratings too. This time Tarkowski was the winner with a rating of 7.42 out of ten, ahead of his defensive partner Mee who was in second place with a rating of 7.33. Lennon and Weghorst couldn’t be separated; they finished joint third, both having won ratings of 6.96 out of ten.
It gave Tarkowski eight points towards the player of the year with Lennon winning seven points and both Mee and Weghorst claiming four points.
Those points took Tarkowski past both Brownhill and Weghorst in the February games and gave his first player of the month this season, following on from Dwight McNeil (August), Maxwel Cornet (September), Nathan Collins (October), Nick Pope (November), Charlie Taylor (December) and Phil Bardsley who jointly won it with Taylor in January.
These points have also taken Tarkowski fifteen points clear of Taylor at the top of the player of the year table with the pair of them some way clear at the top.
