Phillips moves from Morecambe to Accrington
Midfielder Adam Phillips has been on loan at Morecambe since the start of this season but has now been recalled to allow him to move up a division to League One where he will spend the remainder of the season with Accrington Stanley.
He’s had a successful time at Morecambe. He’s their leading goalscorer with ten goals and has played in all but one of their games until now.
Phillips said: “I enjoyed my time at Morecambe and this is a chance now to move up a division and test myself at the this level. I know a few of the lads at Accrington and I’m looking forward to the challenge of being involved there and helping them for the rest of the season.”
Morecambe briefly reported that he’d been recalled by Burnley and wished him all the best for the future while Accrington boss John Coleman said: “He’s a good player, he’s done well in his loan spell for Morecambe and hopefully he’ll kick on for us.
“We are lacking goals from central midfield and he has an eye for goal, he gives us an attacking option from midfield as well as Sean McConville, Matt Butcher and Jon Russell. I don’t think we’ve had as many goals from midfield that I’d like, we’ve only had five or six and I’m looking for us to score more.”
In answer to that, Phillips said: “I like to get in the box, get on end of crosses and I like to get back and help the team out. I always give 100 per cent and I like to take risks with passing.
“I have been looking at Accrington’s results and how they have been getting on and I am glad it’s done. Accrington have a few games in hand, so hopefully we can get into play-offs and get a good end to the season.”Share this page :
