1617 burnley rj pingling 00 500x500Richard ‘RJ’ Pingling was one of the young players released by Burnley at the end of last season. He’d been with us for just a year having been brought in from the Kinetic Foundation in Croydon to join the youth squad.

He left with Billy Grogan, Miles Fenton and Tyler Shrimpton although he quickly got fixed up during the close season and before the end of June had been signed by Surrey based club Merstham who play in the Bostik Isthmian League Premier Division.

Yesterday, however, he was north of the border in Dundee and playing as a trialist in the ‘wee derby’ for the Dark Blues (Dundee) against local rivals and neighbours Dundee United in the Development League.

He helped them to a 1-0 win, which came courtesy of a Jack Lambert goal in the sixth minute, and reports suggest he impressed, showing his potential with a couple of good runs and setting up a chance for Matty Henvey which the young striker missed.
