A young Burnley side featuring no fewer than six trialists have gone down to a 4-2 defeat this afternoon against Rangers B team at Murray Park, their training headquarters in Milngavie.

With four of the trialists starting, two in defence and two in midfield, we made a quiet start before being hit with three Rangers’ goals in the space of nine minutes; Jake Hastie scoring the first followed by a brace from Robbie Ure.

But we fought back with Rob Harker scoring from the penalty spot six minutes before half time and with all but one of the substitutes coming on at half time, it was Harker again who netted to reduce the deficit to one goal.

Charlie Lindsay scored a fourth for Rangers and that’s how it ended with Burnley making more changes twenty minutes from the end.

It’s the first of two games in Scotland while they train at Stirling University. The second of them will be this Saturday with the opponents still to be confirmed.
