Burnley’s final group game in this season’s Premier League Cup comes this evening against Arsenal and no matter what the result, we will not qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

Arsenal are winners of Group G with just tonight’s game to play. They have eleven points from their five games to date with Stoke, on nine points, finishing second and qualifying with the Gunners.

We are third, one point ahead of Swansea, with five points but only one win from our five games, that coming at home against Stoke. It’s the two games against Swansea we will look back on. We led 2-0 at Swansea at half time before losing 5-2 and then led 2-0 and 3-2 against them at home with the game ending in a 3-3 draw.

Michael Mellon scored all of those five goals but he won’t feature tonight having joined Morecambe on loan for the remainder of the season.

The game will be played at Boreham Wood with a 7 p.m. kick off.
