Premier League Cup night at Leyland for the under-21s
We kick off the second half of our group fixtures in this season’s Premier League Cup tonight with a home return game against Leicester City.
They were our first opponents this season back in September. We beat them 4-3 with Joe Westley scoring our first and final goals with both Basilio Rieno Socoliche and Lewis Richardson on the scoresheet. Richardson scored again in the next game at home against Brentford in October when Will Hugill scored twice in a 3-3 draw.
Last month we travelled to Fulham, who had convincingly beaten both Brentford and Leicester. They more than repeated that against us, beating us 8-0 and that has left us third in the group with the top two to qualify.
Fulham dropped points for the first time last Friday, held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford and that leaves Fulham top with ten points and Brentford (five points) above us having played one game more. We have four points with Leicester still to get off the mark.
We are still very much in the running to qualify. A win tonight and then victory against Brentford next month would confirm it prior to the home game against Fulham in February which brings our group games to an end.
Tonight’s game is at Leyland and kicks off at 7 p.m.Follow UpTheClarets:
