The Professional Development Leagues get underway this week for both the under-21 and under-18 teams although Burnley don’t feature in week 1 at under-21 level with our first game to come in week 2 when we travel to Millwall a week next Monday.

As in previous seasons, the leagues are split geographically with a north and south group at each level and this season we find one extra team in the leagues. The south group is still made up of ten clubs. They have lost Reading who have successfully applied for a return to Category 1, and will play in Premier League 2 and the Under 18 Premier League, but they welcome Bournemouth who have successfully moved up from Category 3. Fleetwood have followed the same path as Bounemouth and have now moved into the north group which increases to eleven clubs.

Teams will again play all the other teams in their own group both home and away; they will play the teams in the other group either at home or away. This season, Burnley will play home games against Bournemouth, Bristol City, Cardiff, Charlton and QPR and will face away fixtures against Colchester, Ipswich, Millwall, Swansea and Watford at under-21 level. The under-18s will host games against Bournemouth, Cardiff, Colchester, Ipswich and Millwall and will travel to play Bristol City, Charlton, QPR, Swansea and Watford.

Although the under-21s are not in action, the under-18s will kick off their season this Saturday at Charlton. with an 11 a.m. kick off at their training ground. All our under-21 home games this season are scheduled to be played at the Lancashire FA County Ground at Leyland; the under-18s will play at Gawthorpe.

The fixtures for both the U21s and U18s can be found within U21/U18 Stats but they are all subject to change.
