Darren Bond was referee for our home game against Fulham last month and is back tomorrow to take charge of our home game against Brentford.

The Lancashire based referee refereed us four times last season to add to a League Cup tie against Leeds in 2017 and with the Fulham game added to that, he currently sits in 15th place in RATE THE REF with a rating of 59.99 out of a hundred.

Having refereed four times last season in the Premier League, he won promotion to the Select Group, but this season has proved difficult for him in terms of Premier League games with the Burnley v Fulham game only his second.

He has refereed once more since in the top league, the game between Wolves and Sheffield United last month. He’s also refereed ten Championship games, five in the FA Cup and one in the League Cup taking his total to nineteen games. There have been 85 yellow and two red cards in those games. Of those yellows, thirty have gone to home team players with 55 to away team players.

In his first Premier League game of the season, that between Fulham and Brentford, the two teams he will have refereed us against by the end of tomorrow, he sent off Fulham’s Tim Ream as Brentford won 3-0 at Craven Cottage. The other red card was for Hull’s Tyler Morton at Sheffield Wednesday on New Year’s Day. The score was 0-0 at the time of what was a shocking decision from Bond, and Wednesday went on to win 3-1 with Scott Twine scoring the Hull goal from the penalty spot. The red card was appealed with the appeal rightly won.

Bond’s most recent game was Millwall’s 1-0 win against Birmingham last week at The Den. He yellow carded Millwall pair Joe Bryan and Ryan Leonard alongside Birmingham’s Lee Buchanan.

Fourth official tomorrow is Geoff Eltringham who last refereed Burnley in our League Cup tie against Rochdale in September 2021. Paul Tierney is on VAR duty and he last refereed a Burnley game on Boxing Day this season when we were beaten 2-0 at home by Liverpool.
