Only three outstanding games have been played in this week’s Professional Development League as the first set of Premier League Cup fixtures were played.

1920 burnley lukas jensen 00 500x500Monday saw Cardiff beat Millwall in an all south game while two games between north and south were played yesterday with both going the way of the southern teams. Watford won at Crewe while the other game was between the two pointless teams in the league, Ipswich from the south at home against Bolton from the north. Ipswich led 6-0 with ten minutes to go but Bolton came back to score three times in the closing period to take the final score to 6-3.

The north group table has hardly changed but the south group has new leaders with Watford going ahead of Coventry although the Sky Blues do now have two games in hand. Ipswich, last year’s south group winners, are still bottom but at least they’ve reduced the deficit to four points. Bolton, who remain pointless in the north have games in hand but they are five points adrift with the two Sheffield clubs in the positions above them.

It’s back to league action this week, starting this afternoon and ending next Monday evening with our game at Wigan. The top two play the two Sheffield clubs, second place Hull are at home against Wednesday on Saturday while leaders Forest travel to United on Monday.

As for the cup, all teams have now played once except Blackburn and Crystal Palace in our group. They should have met last week but the game has been put back to next Thursday.

The player featured this week is goalkeeper Lukas Jensen who has joined the club recently and played in each of the last four league and cup games that started with him making two important saves in the penalty shoot out Lancashire Senior Cup win against Fleetwood.
