Burnley moved ahead of Newcastle United in Premier League 2 tonight with a 1-0 win at Stoke but it was a difficult game to watch with the fog having descended in the Potteries.

It proved to be a difficult first half for us with Stoke in the ascendancy and that didn’t help when we were forced into a defensive change when Anthony Glennon went off with an injury with only nineteen minutes gone.

But we stepped things up after the break and the only goal of the game came in the 69th minute when Lewis Richardson (pictured) netted from a ball in from the left flank by Owen Dodgson. Both teams might have scored after that but it was a third win of the season for the Clarets to lift us off the bottom.

The teams were;

Stoke: Robbie Hemfrey, Lewis Macari, William Forrester (Gabriel Adebambo ht), Kevin Wimmer, Moritz Bauer, Kieran Coates, Tom Sparrow, Dan Malone, Christian Norton, Ethan Varian, Adam Porter (Douglas James-Taylor ht). Subs not used: Paul Cooper, Connor Taylor, Ryan Malbon.

Burnley: Lukas Jensen, Richard Nartey, Bobby Thomas, Anthony Glennon (Marcel Elva-Fountaine 19), Owen Dodgson, Armann Taranis, Mace Goodridge, Anthony Gomez Mancini, Max Thompson, Joel Mumbongo (Ne-Jai Tucker 90+3), Lewis Richardson. Subs not used: Marc Richter, Matty Rain, Ismaila Diallo.
