Jon Moss is the referee for today’s game against Everton at Goodison Park and this will be the second time he’s refereed this particular fixture; he was previously  the man in charge when Jeff Hendrick scored the only goal of the game back in October 2017.

It will be his third Burnley game this season with the other two coming since the turn of the year. He refereed our FA Cup penalty shoot out win against MK when, just before half time, he reversed a red card decision against Richard Keogh having become the first referee to visit the Turf Moor pitch side monitor. He then refereed our 1-1 home draw against Fulham recently.

He’s also refereed Everton twice this season. The first occasion was their 1-0 home win against Chelsea back in December and then he was at Old Trafford on the anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster, 6th February, for the 3-3 draw between Manchester United and Everton.

Since our game against Fulham, he’s taken charge of a further four games, the most recent being Manchester City’s 5-2 win against Southampton which has placed him very much in the spotlight for not awarding City a penalty for a foul on Phil Foden.

Fernandinho was the only player carded in that game and it’s taken his total for the season to 57 of which 30 have gone to home team players and 27 team players. With the Keogh card rescinded, the last player he sent off was Norwich’s Timm Klose in last season’s FA Cup defeat against Manchester United.

Chris Kavanagh is the fourth official today. The last time he refereed a Burnley game was at West Ham in January while Martin Atkinson will be on VAR and his only Burnley game this season was the home defeat against Manchester City.
