Having won at Fleetwood and followed that up with a home win against Tranmere, the youth team are at home to Preston tomorrow morning as they look to try and make it three wins out of three to start the season.

1516 burnley khius metz 00 630x420If they can achieve that, it will be the first time in five years since we’ve started with three successive victories. On that occasion we recorded a 5-0 win at Morecambe and followed it up with home wins against Accrington and Blackpool. We scored ten goals too, with Shay McCartan netting five of them and Jason Gilchrirst scoring three.

We face a Preston side who have, to date, picked up just one point from their two games. They opened their season two weeks ago with a 0-0 home draw at Carlisle but fell to a 4-0 defeat last Saturday at Bury.

North End had a much better season than us in 2015/16. We were next to bottom with just 20 points from our 28 games. They ended the season just in the top half with 42 points although it was all square when we met with both teams recording 3-0 away wins.

We played the away game at Chorley on a day when Khius Metz, pictured, might have bagged a hat trick. Tommy Wood gave us the lead but Metz got the other two. Unfortunately he missed a penalty between his two goals, and that cost him a hat trick.

Preston got revenge in April, beating us 3-0. It was the seventh in a run of nine successive defeats that ended the season.

Tomorrow’s game kicks off at the earlier time of 10:30 a.m. If you are thinking of going, I’d suggest waterproofs and an umbrella giving the forecast currently.
