Last Saturday’s 3-0 win at bottom of the table Leeds United has moved our under-18s up to seventh in the North group of the U18 Premier League.

The win moved us ahead of Derby who had the opportunity yesterday to go back above us should they have beaten Manchester City, but that game ended in a 3-3 draw leaving us above the Rams on goal difference. We are some way clear of the other teams in the league now and are just one point behind Middlesbrough, who do have a game in hand.

Manchester City were top of the league a week ago, above Manchester United on goal difference. United went top last Saturday with a big 6-0 win against Sunderland but the draw that moved Derby level on points with us yesterday meant City couldn’t regain their lead at the top of the league.

Liverpool remain third having beaten Newcastle while Everton beat Middlesbrough in the one other game played in the north last Saturday with Stoke then drawing against Middlesbrough yesterday.

It’s all been swap and change at the top again in the south. The week started with Crystal Palace on top and ends with them in the same position but for two days it was Fulham who led the way. Palace started two points ahead but could only draw at Reading last Saturday while Fulham beat Southampton 6-0. That saw Fulham go top due to a better goal difference but Palace played again yesterday, beat Chelsea and went three points clear.

The player featured this week is first year scholar Jacson Coppack who joined the academy from Everton during the 2019/20 season.
