It’s six days since the historic win against Manchester United at Old Trafford, our first win there since 1962 and who better than a former Manchester City player to take the man of the match and player rating honours after our 2-0 victory.

Such was the performance, any of the eleven players could have potentially won the award but Mee, who hadn’t had the best of games in the previous game against Leicester, was simply outstanding at the back as we kept a third clean sheet of the season on the road.

The man of the match vote resulted in a three way contest between Mee, left back Charlie Taylor and striker Jay Rodriguez who scored our sensational second goal but it was Mee who won it with a 35% share of the vote. Rodriguez claimed 27% while Taylor won 25%. That was all but 13% of the vote which left fourth place going jointly to James Tarkowski and Chris Wood who both won a 3% share.

It was the same players at the top of the player ratings and I’m not sure I’ve ever seen ratings so high, reflecting the sheer joy among Burnley fans at our performance. Six of the team won ratings over nine while all of them secured a rating over eight.

Mee won it with a rating of 9.65 out of 10 and again he was followed closely by Rodriguez and Taylor who both had ratings of 9.53. Fourth place went to Tarkowski who scored 9.28 out of 10 which left Wood and Jack Cork failing to get into the top four despite their nine plus ratings.

Mee’s performance has won him the maximum ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year while there are six points for Rodriguez, five for Taylor, two for Tarkowski and one for Wood.

It’s tightened things up at the top of the table with Mee moving within sixteen points of leader Tarkowski although that could change once the Norwich cup vote is concluded. That vote ends tonight.
