Snow halts 2021 start for youths
Having not played for five weeks, our under-18s played against Wolves this afternoon at Lilleshall, but the game didn’t get a third of the way through before falling foul of the weather.
There were no problems at kick off, the game going ahead on a lush green pitch but heavy snow arrived and soon changed that. By the time the referee brought a temporary halt to proceedings, the pitch had turned white.
The officials decided to give it thirty minutes to see if there was any improvement but if anything it worsened and they were left with no alternative but to abandon the game with the score still at 0-0.
With the FA Youth Cup currently suspended, this was our first game of the year and we’ll now be hoping to get in a full game next Saturday against north league leaders Manchester United.
The team today included new signing Benn Ward and we lined up: Sam Waller, Will Couch, Dylan Moonan, Matty Carson, Dane McCullough, Kade Ratchford, Will Hugill, Benn Ward, George Walters, Corey Brennan, Sam Unwin. Subs: Dan Sassi, Jacob Hamilton, Sean Etaluku, Tremaine Eastmond, Ruairi Behan.Follow UpTheClarets:
