Having beaten Rochdale last night, Burnley have earned a home tie again in the fourth round with Tottenham Hotspur set to visit the Turf next month.

It is the sixth time we’ve been paired in this competition with us having won twice and lost three times. The wins came in the 1982/83 quarter-final when Billy Hamilton scored twice in a 4-1 win at White Hart Lane having trailed 1-0, and in the 2002/03 season we came from behind to win 2-1 with goals from Robbie Blake and Steve Davis.

They beat us 3-1 on aggregate in 1993/94,  came to Burnley in 2004/05 and won 3-0 on the night Gary Cahill made his Burnley debut. Then came the last meeting in the 2008/09 semi-final when we went out dramatically in extra time having come from three goals behind after the first leg. To add to the cruelty, with away goals, we’d have won without extra time in any other competition.

This tie will be played in w/c 25th October.

The Full Draw
