Stone’s team start with a win
The under-23s have won their opening pre-season game, beating Pogoń Szcsecin’s under-23 team 2-1 this morning at their Hotel Remes training base in Posnań.
Rob Harker (pictured), who is about to begin his second season at Burnley having left Bury last summer, got the first goal just before the half hour which started with new boy Joel Senior playing a ball through to Tunde Bayode whose low cross was met by Harker at the near post.
In a feisty first half, both central defenders Bobby Thomas and Scott Wilson picked up yellow cards too but we took our lead into the break.
A change of line up in the second half did well until they equalised on the hour through Adrian Benedyczak and the Polish side did get on top for a while. We came back at them though with the trialist striker scoring our second and winner eleven minutes from time after receiving a pass from Mitch George, and he was close to a second four minutes from time only to see his shot hit the post.
We are next in action this Wednesday at Stalybridge Celtic.
