Tarky is top man at the Bridge
Last Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea wasn’t a good one for the Clarets as we lost 2-0 when all our better performances came from the defenders.
Again, the top four in the man of the match vote were identical to the top four in the player ratings with James Tarkowski coming out on top. Quite often we’ve had runaway winners in the man of the match but this time it was very much a three way battle with Tarkowski finishing on top with 28% of the vote. He was just ahead of goalkeeper Nick Pope who secured 25% and he was followed by Matt Lowton with 22%. Ben Mee took fourth place with 10% of the vote.
Only four players, the same four players, scored above the average six out of ten in the player ratings on a difficult afternoon. Tarkowski was the highest with a rating of 6.98 out of 10 with Pope scoring 6.91. Just below them were Lowton and Mee who secured ratings of 6.70 and 6.50 respectively.
That gave Tarkowski ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with Pope winning six points alongside four points for Lowton and two points for Mee. It brought to an end the January fixtures leaving Pope as the player of the month, six points ahead of the two central defenders.
He leads the player of the year table too although his lead has now been reduced to eighteen points over Tarkowski with Mee a further nine points behind.
