Nathan Tella scored his second hat trick of the season last Wednesday as the Clarets won 3-1 at Hull City to take our points total to 83 with nine games still remaining.

Tella’s goals were our only shots on goal throughout the game but we were very deserving of the win with Hull’s goal coming in the last minute of stoppage time, and his performance convincingly won Tella both our man of the match and the player ratings.

He polled 85% of the man of the match vote which meant the next three all had few votes although Jordan Beyer took second place with Arijanet Muric finishing third, both with a 4% share. Ashley Barnes took fourth place with 2% of the vote.

Those four players also made the top four in the player ratings where Tella, with 9.35 out of ten, was an easy winner. Beyer was second with 7.97 and Josh Cullen third with 7.82. Barnes shared fourth place with Muric, both having a rating of 7.79 out of ten.

It’s given Tella the maximum ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year. Beyer wins six points with three points for Muric and two each for Barnes and Cullen.

That’s made a difference to the player of the year table with Cullen now moving two points clear of Jack Cork at the top. Beyer and Tella have also moved into third and fourth places with Manuel Benson, for so long in second place, now fifth in the table.

Now into the international break, the next vote will come a week on Friday after the game against Sunderland with the Manchester City result to come tomorrow.
