1617 burnley jamie thomas 01 800Earlier this month, Burnley signed 19-year-old striker Jamie Thomas following his release from Bolton Wanderers, one of three players to have joined the development squad recently.

However, Thomas, a Welsh under-19 international, is already on his way out of Turf Moor having joined Scottish Championship club Ayr United on loan until January having been tipped off by John Henry who worked as a coach for both Burnley and Bolton.

Ayr boss Ian McCall said on completing the deal: “Jamie is someone that John Henry knows really well as they worked together at Bolton. He only left Bolton because of their financial difficulties and it shows how highly thought of he is that a Premiership team have given him a deal.

“He plays for Wales under 19s and is a goalscorer.  He is left and right footed and can take free kicks with either foot. We are delighted we have got him to January and are really looking forward to working with him.”
