In the final game of 2019, the under-18s beat Hull City 3-2 at home having held a 3-0 lead and we’ve started 2020 in exactly the same way against Barnsley today at the Oakwell training ground.

Against Hull, captain Cricky Conn-Clarke scored twice with Max Thompson (pictured) on the scoresheet and the same two players netted the goals today. Thompson broke into the box midway through the first half to score and ten minutes later it was 2-0 with a Conn-Clarke free kick. Thompson netted his second and our third just before half time after what had been an excellent performance.

However, Barnsley did come back into things after the break. They pulled on back on the hour and netted again leaving us to defend a one goal lead for the final twenty minutes. We did that successfully and recorded our eighth league win of the season.

The Burnley team was: Harry Allen, Kane Patterson, Jake Rooney, Edon Pruti, Matty Rain, Fin Armstrong, Cricky Conn-Clarke, Dylan Moonan, Rhys Fenlon, Mitch George, Max Thompson. Subs: Lewis Thomas, Udoka Chima, William Couch, Joel Connolly.
