This afternoon’s Professional Development League game against Birmingham City has been moved from the County Ground at Leyland with the shortest of notice.

The game kicks off at 2 p.m. and we go into the game in second place in the table having won four and drawn one of our last five games. We currently sit four points ahead of Coventry who are in third place and they have a game in hand on us. Sheffield United, who have played a game more than us, are currently six points clear at the top.

Our opponents Birmingham are currently seventh in the ten team northern group of the league. They’ve won two, drawn one and lost four of their seven games although their goals for and against are similar to ours. We’ve both scored thirteen goals while we’ve also conceded thirteen and they’ve conceded fourteen.

Birmingham’s wins have both come at home and both came in September. They beat Colchester 5-0 at the beginning of last month and the final game of the month saw them beat Coventry 3-2.

Both of us were demoted from Category 1 clubs last season so the last time we met was in Premier League 2 last season. The home game, played in January this year, ended in a 1-1 draw at Leyland. Dara Costelloe scored our goal just a few minutes before half time with Jacson Coppack scoring a late own goal to bring Birmingham level.

Kick off for today’s game remains at 2 p.m.
