Gareth Southgate named his England squad today for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro and he’s named both Tom Heaton and James Tarkowski in that squad.

Tom was on standby for last year’s World Cup but this is the first time he’s made a squad since before the injury he sustained in September 2017 and it is a fully deserved return given the form he’s been in for the Clarets since returning to the team.

He’s joined by Tarkowski who has been involved more recently but who has also been out of the last two squads because of injury. Both will be hoping to add to the caps they’ve won previously.

It’s also good to see two former Burnley players alongside them. Kieran Trippier has become a regular in Southgate’s squads and there is also a place for Michael Keane who made his England debut in the 2017/17 season while still with Burnley.

They will all join up with the England squad next Monday with the first of the games against the Czechs on Friday 22nd March at Wembley with the Montenegro game three days later on Monday 25th March in Podgorica.
