Our creditable 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough last Saturday, who kicked off the day in second place in the North division of the U18 Premier League, has helped give the table a look of the Premier League itself with the top three places now held by Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City.

Manchester City, who were without a game, started the day top of the league but Liverpool’s big 5-0 win against Leeds has taken them top with United also moving ahead of their local rivals with a win at Stoke.

Liverpool weren’t the only team to hit five in the north; Newcastle had won for the first time against us but they proved winning was no fluke with an easy 5-0 victory against Blackburn. That’s a result that has seen Blackburn dumped into next to bottom place.

We remain seventh in the table after this draw in what has been a decent start to the season at the higher level for Tony Philliskirk’s squad although the team face a tough fixture this week with a trip to play league leaders Liverpool.

There are new leaders in the south too with Aston Villa going top after winning at Chelsea, going ahead of Crystal Palace who were without a game. There were two 5-0 results in the north but Spurs went a couple better than that;  they beat Southampton 7-0 with Dane Scarlett scoring four of them.

Spurs are third now while Leicester got themselves an almost decent result. They were beaten 3-1 at home by West Brom and remain pointless. Only conceded three goals was something of an improvement though.

The player featured this week is recent recruit Calen Gallagher-Allison who lined up in the centre of defence for the team last Saturday that kept a clean sheet.
