Two Clarets get Northern Ireland call
Two current and two former Burnley players are named in the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad to play games against Iceland and Macedonia.
It’s congratulations to goalkeeper Conor Mitchell (pictured) and right-back Cameron Dummigan along with left-back Luke Conlan, now at Morecambe, and Accrington’s Shay McCartan, four players brought into Turf Moor by former Northern Ireland scout Stuart Harvey.
Mitchell is the only one of the four still to make a debut at this level. He’s had a number of call ups previously but been on the bench and will be hoping now to step up having played for the under-19s. The other goalkeeper in the squad is Gareth Deane the 22-year-old goalkeeper who, like Mitchell, is still to win a cap.
Dummigan currently has seven under-21 caps, one behind Conlan who has won eight while McCartan is looking to win a tenth cap.
The first of the two games against Iceland will be played at Mourneview Park, Lurgan on Friday 2nd September with the Macedonia game in Skopje on Tuesday 6th September.Share this page :
