1415 burnley luke daly 00 300x300South Shields yesterday completed the signing of former Burnley youth team player Luke Daly who had previously been playing for Droylsden and he’ll join up with a former team mate there in Nathan Lowe.

Daly was a scholar at Turf Moor in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 signings, turning professional at the end of that season. He only spent one further year with the Clarets before moving into non-league football.

Now 22, he’s looking forward to his time with South Shields. He said: “I feel very excited to be here because it’s a big club and you see how it’s moving forward. It’s something I want to be involved in.

Lowe joined the youth team at the same time as Daly. He got closer to the first team and was with us until the end of the 2015/16 season before, himself, moving into non-league football with FC United of Manchester.

He moved to South Shields a while ago and he played alongside Daly on the unforgettable night at Old Trafford when we knocked Manchester United out of the FA Youth Cup.

Daly said of Lowe: “He’s one of my good friends and we know how to play together in midfield. We’ll work well with each other and it will be great to play alongside him again.”
