1718 burnley tom heaton 01 500x500Despite taking the lead three times, our under-23s have been soundly beaten this afternoon behind closed doors at Gawthorpe, losing 6-3 against a Leeds team who now go to the top of the league.

Burnley included Tom Heaton in goal, otherwise it was a young Burnley team. We took an early lead when Rob Harker set up Tinashe Chakwana with Leeds equalising with a Patrick Bamford goal midway through the first half. However, we went in 2-1 up at half time when Harker got his second assist, this time for Dan Agyei.

There was a flurry of goals early in the second half. Jack Clarke equalised for Leeds but we were back in front a minute later when Harker got his own name on the score sheet. However, two minutes later it was 3-3 when Lewis Baker scored for Leeds.

Izzy Brown gave Leeds the lead just past the hour with Bamford getting his second and Leeds’ fifth soon afterwards. Bamford then completed his hat trick and the scoring five minutes from time.
