Our first season in the U18 Premier League will draw to a close in the next week with home games against Manchester City and Derby County.

It’s been a difficult few weeks with only one point coming from the last four games and that’s seen us lose touch with the teams immediately above us with Everton, Derby and, this week, Blackburn all moving ahead of us in the table.

It sees a table that is now confirmed will be headed at the end of the season by one of the two Manchester clubs and it couldn’t be much closer with United holding a two point lead over City but City having a game in hand. Both will play tomorrow, United at home to Middlesbrough and City at Stoke, and it could leave City needing a victory against us next Wednesday to win the title.

Ninth is the lowest we can expect to finish unless Newcastle have a remarkable run of wins from their remaining games in a table that will see either Leeds or Sunderland finish bottom with Sunderland the most likely.

In the south, the battle between Crystal Palace and Fulham continues. Both played last Saturday and both won away games. Palace were 5-1 winners at rivals Brighton but Fulham pulled off an even bigger away win, beating Leicester 8-0.

It leaves Palace retaining their three point lead but with only one game to play with Fulham still having two games. Should Fulham win both their games, tomorrow and next Saturday, they will be crowned champions because of a much better goal difference.

The player featured this week is midfielder Dylan Moonan. He’s coming to the end of his scholarship at Burnley and Up the Clarets believes he has signed a professional deal with Accrington Stanley.
