It’s 24 days since the under-18s last played, that a 1-0 home defeat against Stoke City in the U18 Premier League and today we return to action with a home game against Liverpool.

We go into the game in 7th place in the table, one place lower than when we last played, but we could go back above Derby with a win; they currently sit three points ahead of us but with a much inferior goal difference.

Our opponents Liverpool are currently third in the table and will go second should they beat us, moving two points clear of Manchester City although they will have played three games more. Liverpool and the two Manchester clubs are now guaranteed to finish the season in the top three places.

Our away game against Liverpool was played at the Liverpool Academy on 1st December and very much went Liverpool’s way. They were 2-0 up inside 19 minutes, added a third at the start of the second half. They made it 4-0 with two minutes to go before our leading goalscorer Sam Unwin scored a stoppage time consolation.

Kick off today at Leyland is 1 p.m.
