Tomorrow, weather permitting, our under-18s will be playing at Derby County, one of two teams, along with Manchester City, we are still to meet in the U18 Premier League this season.

We go into the game in eighth place and that’s one place ahead of Derby who have two points less but two games in hand although. Both teams have won five and lost six of their games to date.

Last week’s comeback at Wolves took our unbeaten run to three games. We beat Everton 1-0 on the Saturday before Christmas with a Joe Smyth-Ferguson goal. Since the turn of the year we’ve beaten Manchester United 1-0 at home and drawn 2-2 at Wolves with all three goals scored by Sam Unwin.

Derby have played just once this year. They won 3-2 at Newcastle two weeks ago, coming from behind to lead 3-1 before conceding a late goal. Prior to that, in December, they’ lost two games, going down 7-0 at Manchester City before losing 3-1 at home against Liverpool.

Tomorrow’s game is to be played at the Derby County Academy with a 12:30 p.m. kick off.
