Under-18s suffer defeat ahead of Prague trip
Having beaten Bournemouth a week ago, the under-18s suffered defeat in their second pre-season game, going down 3-1 against Everton yesterday at Gawthorpe and this having taken an early lead.
Jayden Major (pictured), scored two of the goals in the 3-0 victory against Bournemouth and the second year scholar was on the mark again giving us an early lead in yesterday’s game. He received a ball from Rhys Fenlon to score in only the sixth minute and that led to us being very much on top for most of the first half.
That changed in the last ten minutes of the half when Everton firstly equalised and then went in front to go right on half time to go into the break with a 2-1 lead.
We gave it a really good go in the second half but with 11 minutes of the game remaining, Everton took it out of our reach when they scored a third following a corner.
The Burnley team was: Harry Allen, Kane Paterson (Dylan Moonan), Edon Pruti, Joe Conley (Corel Brennan), Matty Rain (Tremaine Eastmond), Ne-Jai Tucker, Ben Woods (Jake Rooney), Trialist (Finlay Armstrong), Rhys Fenlon (Matthew Carson), Jayden Major, Mitch George (Joel Connolly).
The squad fly out to Prague this week to take part in the CEE Cup which we last entered two years ago, reaching the final before losing by the same 3-1 scoreline against Everton.Share this page :
