The under-21s have been beaten 2-1 by Sheffield Wednesday this afternoon in the Professional Development League. We trailed 1-0 at half time to an Adam Adetoro goal but levelled through a Tommy McDermott penalty. But a Mackenzie Maltby goal twelve minutes from time gave Wednesday the points.

The teams were;

Sheffield Wednesday: Jack Hall, Ciaran Brennan, Cian Flannery, Adam Adetoro, Trialist, Mackenzie Maltby, Joey Phuthi, Rio Shipston, Luke Cook, Favour Onukwuli, Sam Reed. Subs: Jack Phillips, Reece Johnson, Jarvis Thornton, Carlos Rodrigues, Bruno Fernandes.

Burnley: Charlie Casper, Alex Healy-Byrne, Joe Ashton, Trialist (Ackeme Francis-Burrell 75), Benn Ward (Logan Pye 61), Will Hugill, Vernon Masara, Tommy McDermott, Joe Bevan, Mikey O’Neill (Renaldo Torraj 75), Brad Grant (Michael Parker 61). Sub not used: Harry Moss.

Meanwhile, the under-18s were beaten by the same score in the U18 Professional Development League Cup. The scoring went the same way as the under-21 game with Benji Wetshi scoring our equaliser only for Oxford to quickly restore their lead and move on into the semi-finals.
