We’ve been waiting some time. Since playing our last group game against Morecambe in mid-November we’ve topped the group in the Final Third Development (Central) League Cup and have waited for the final game between Fleetwood and Bradford City to take place to determine our fate.

A Fleetwood win would see them win the group on goal difference but any other result would ensure we finished top to go through to the semi-finals.

That game was played yesterday with Bradford City winning it 2-0 with an own goal and a strike from Reece Webb-Foster.

That leaves Burnley as group winners on seven points, followed by Bradford City (six points), Fleetwood (four) and Morecambe (none).

It takes us into the semi-finals alongside Stoke. Notts County are virtually there with only a four goal defeat against Rotherham allowing Chesterfield to go above them.

And in the one remaining group it is all between Middlesbrough and Hartlepool. Middlesbrough currently lead Hartlepool on goal difference with both of them still having to play Gateshead.

In the group, we drew the first game 3-3 against Fleetwood. Cameron Dummigan scored the first goal with Ntumba Massanka netting the other two, one of them from the penalty spot.

We then beat Bradford City 4-2 with goals from Jamie Frost, an own goal and a Khius Metz brace, and got a second win when Josh Ginnelly scored a late goal to beat Morecambe 1-0.

There is no news as yet as to who we might play or where the game will be played.
