Our under-23s will be hoping that today doesn’t bring the curtain down on our first ever season in Premier League 2 as we play our final league game of the season against Leeds United at their Thorp Arch training ground.

We go into the game in fifth place, the last play-off position but just one point ahead of Sunderland who have two games to play, both of them against second place Stoke, the first of which will be played this evening. That means a win for us today will force Sunderland to secure at least four points from their two games.

The only other team who could still get above us are Crystal Palace but they are currently four points behind with two to play, and for them it is two games against fourth place Middlesbrough.

Today’s game is the toughest on the fixture list, an away game against the team who have run away with the title. They drew 1-1 at Fulham a week ago but their form has been outstanding with 13 wins in the last 15 games leaving them ten points clear.

Leeds often supplement their team with members of the first team squad, something we tend to do only if a player is coming back from injury and, given the first team are playing tonight, it is likely to be an inexperienced eleven who will look to gain revenge for the home defeat against them in January. We lost the game 4-1 with our goal scored by Max Thompson (pictured).

Kick off today is 1 p.m.
