Having played at Aston Villa four days ago, the under-23s are back home at the County Ground in Leyland tonight with a home game against Stoke City.

Our seven game unbeaten run in Premier League 2 came to an end two and a half weeks ago when league leaders Fulham beat us 2-1 and the big defeat at Villa made it successive defeats with the penalty shoot out victory against Barrow in the Lancashire Senior Cup sandwiched between them.

We take on a Stoke side who have one point more than us and currently sit three places above us. They’d, themselves, been on a run of five games without defeat which, like our run, was ended by Fulham who beat them 3-0 last Friday. Their previous defeat was against Villa and it was a big one too; they were beaten 8-0 by them.

Last season’s home game against them ended in a 2-1 defeat. D’Margio Wright-Phillips gave Stoke the lead but we were level within two minutes through Max Thompson (pictured). Those two goals were in the first half but Kieran Coates won the game for Stoke with a goal twelve minutes after the break.

Tonight’s game at Leyland kicks off at 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on YouTube.
