Burnley beat Crewe 3-2 last Monday in the Professional Development League and it was a result that has moved us one place up the table to seventh.

1617 burnley dwight mcneil 00 500x500It was a much needed result too following Barnsley’s win against Bolton last Friday. They kicked off that game bottom of the league but left us, Crewe and Sheffield Wednesday propping things up with nine points.

Sheffield Wednesday, who included former Claret George Boyd, took a hammering at Birmingham last Saturday, ensuring they would remain bottom, but it was Burnley who won the game against Crewe and that moved us back above Barnsley and ahead of Hull who drew on the same day at Sheffield United.

Sheffield United had led the league on goal difference but they’ve now dropped two points behind Leeds who beat Nottingham Forest,

Nothing has changed in the south group. The top three all won which leaves Ipswich still three points clear of both Bristol City and Millwall. Watford still remain without a win but they are off the bottom thanks to four draws which keeps them one point clear of Colchester.

There are no league games this week with a full fixture list as the Premier League Cup gets underway. We’ve got both Liverpool and West Brom to come, but we kick off with our away game at Bournemouth which will be played at Dean Court tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. kick off.

We played them in the competition two seasons ago. We weren’t a category two club then and had to qualify for the group stages. We beat Bournemouth 3-1 before beating Watford 2-0 to get through to the groups. Dwight McNeil (pictured), Tinashe Chakwana and Freddy Yao scored our goals.
