Under-23s take on Middlesbrough today
The under-23s are back in action this afternoon, looking to get back to winning ways having lost the last two games against Stoke and Crystal Palace on the previous two Mondays.
We will also be looking to avenge the 3-0 defeat we suffered at the hands of Middlesbrough back in October with the Boro goals scored by Daniel Dodds, Isaac Fletcher and Cain Sykes.
Middlesbrough currently sit one place ahead of us in Premier League 2 Division 2 on goal difference. We both have 18 points although they have played on game less. They aren’t in the best of form right now. Following their win against us, they won the next game at Norwich and two games later won at Wolves.
That victory against Wolves was on 20th November. They’ve since played six games which have brought them just two points in draws against Aston Villa and Sunderland, the second of those against Sunderland coming in a 1-1 draw last Monday with Cole Kiernan scoring the Middlesbrough goal.
Besides the game earlier this season, we played Middlesbrough in last season’s Premier League Cup, drawing 1-1 at Bishop Auckland with a goal from Scott Wilson before losing the home game 2-1 when Ali Koiki scored our goal from the penalty spot.
Today’s game, as we reported last week, brings with it a return to Curzon Ashton where we played our home games during the three seasons we were in category 2. Our most recent game there was on 12th March last year when Joel Mumbongo scored in a 1-1 Premier League Cup draw against Blackburn.
Kick off today is at 2 p.m.Share this page :
