curzon ashton 3 1000x500Our under-23s have become a big draw this season, quite literally, with nine of our thirteen games so far in league and cup all finishing level alongside four wins, and today we take that unbeaten start to the season back to Curzon Ashton for our home game against Sheffield Wednesday.

We are currently third in the league, behind Crewe on goal difference and two points behind current leaders Nottingham Forest although we have played a game more than both of them. With Crewe playing tomorrow, any positive result, even another draw, would see us temporarily go second but a win, coupled with a defeat for Forest at home to Leeds would take us top of the league.

A week ago, our last game ended all square at Leeds with Josh Benson equalising from the penalty spot in the 1-1 draw. We came from behind a week earlier in our last home game against Barnsley with Lewis Richardson scoring twice to give us a 2-1 win.

Sheffield Wednesday last time out were beaten 3-0 at home by Barnsley and they, so far, have not made the best of starts to the season. They are currently next to bottom with eight points from their nine games.

This is a fixture that we are yet to score a goal in with both previous home games in this league ending in 1-0 defeats. Hopefully we’ll turn that around today and get the three points to push those top two in the league.

Admission is free on production of your season card but this season non-season ticket holders are being charged £5. Kick off at Curzon Ashton is 2 p.m.
