pogonThe under-23s are travelling to Poland this pre-season and will play one game there before returning for the three games we’ve already publicised on Up the Clarets.

The first team and under-23 players all report back for pre-season training next Monday but while the first team head off for a training camp in Portugal, Steve Stone will be taking his squad to Poznan in Poland where they will train.

The trip will end with a game against Pogoń Szczecin II who are in the top league in Poland and the game will be played on Saturday 13th July in Opalenica on the outskirts of Poznan.

Steve Stone said of the trip: “They are excellent facilities we are going to, hopefully in good weather which will allow us to have long days on the training ground and in the fitness areas.

“It’s good to have a change of scenery during pre-season and going early allows us to build up a level of fitness and start working on things tactically and team-wise. It will also be good for the boys to spend a long period of time together, to bed in the new faces and carry on that team spirit which served us so well last season.”

There will then be the three pre-season games back in the North West on their return. All these fixtures can be found in Friendlies and Key Dates on the top menu.
