A goal right on half time gave Burnley a 1-0 win against Peterborough last Saturday and it moved us up a place in the table to seventh after this, our third league win of the season.

Adam McCoy scored the goal, his first of the season, and he became the ninth player to score for us in the league this season. The win took us above Fleetwood. We’d started the day behind them on goal difference but they had no game and we’ve gone three points clear although they have four games in hand and are currently not scheduled to play this weekend.

Leaders in the north group Birmingham surprisingly dropped points at Wigan, giving the Latics only their second point of the season, adding to the one they won in a 0-0 draw at Burnley at the beginning of October.

Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley, winners against Hull and Crewe took advantage although Wednesday, currently second, remain seven points behind Birmingham.

There was a shock for the south group leaders Bristol City too. They’d won all but one of their games, drawing the other, but were beaten for the first time and against lowly Cardiff at home. They too have a comfortable lead at the top of their group and it remains at eight points with Charlton’s game at Bournemouth moved back three weeks.

Result of the day came in the derby between Ipswich and Colchester who served up ten goals. It was a remarkable start to the game; Ipswich were 3-0 up after a quarter of an hour before Colchester pulled one back. With just 25 minutes gone, Ipswich led 5-1 and at half time the score was 5-4. Ipswich scored the only goal of the second half to win 6-4 and only Colchester’s Samson Uwandu scored more than once in the game.

There is a full fixture list this week in the south with three games in the north including our trip to fourth pace Coventry who currently have three points more than us.

The player featured this week is second year scholar goalkeeper Jon Ander Vilar Robinson.
