Our under-23s have two games this week. We play in the Premier League Cup against Crystal Palace on Thursday but, before that, we are in league action tonight with an away game against bottom of the league Bolton Wanderers.

Our team gets younger by the week because of the numbers having gone out on loan. That number has now been reduced to ten with Teddy Perkins having left the club and signed for Watford,  but the team is vastly different from the one that remained unbeaten in the league until recently.

Tony Philliskirk made ten changes to his youth team on Saturday and some of those who played in last week’s FA Youth Cup win against West Brom will be on duty tonight although there is a chance that the Henri Ogunby, our latest recruit, could play his first game since signing from Manchester City.

Our opponents Bolton are having a difficult time at this level and have picked up only four points from their 17 games which leaves them 12 points adrift at the bottom of the table.

We won the home game 5-0 with goals from Oliver Younger (pictured), Josh Benson, Rob Harker, Anthony Glennon and Ne-Jai Tucker but games in the two previous games have, at times, been feisty affairs.

We lost the away game 1-0 two seasons ago, a game played at the then named Macron Stadium. Last season it was played at the County Ground at Leyland with us winning 4-2 having trailed 2-0 at half time. Michael Fowler, Bobby Thomas, Dan Agyei and Benson scored the goals that night.

Tonight’s game is also at Leyland and kicks off at 7 p.m.
