Burnley travel to Luton tomorrow with Vincent Kompany coming up against their manager Rob Edwards for a third time, him having been in charge at Watford and then Luton when we visited those two clubs last season.

Edwards saw his side win for the first time this season when they recorded a 2-1 victory at Everton three days ago. He said of that: “It wasn’t a weight off our shoulders, it had been coming because the performances have been good. The lads are in great spirits and have been every day. It’s a great feeling to get that win but it was back to business quite quickly.”

Moving on to tonight’s game, he said of us: “Let me tell you, they are a very good team. They have started the season well, they’ve played City, United, Villa, Spurs, Newcastle. They had sixty percent possession against Manchester United.

“They’ve improved since last season. Last year they dominated the league, were the best team by a country mile. They’ve spent a reported £100 million and in Vincent Kompany they have a brilliant manager. They are in a false position.”

Kompany, unlike Edwards, is looking for that first win but said yesterday: “We are creating some really good chances but we have to start putting them away, but it’s a good sign. We have had some big chances and strong moments and the lack of goals isn’t through the lack of creating chances.

“There has been some good team performances shown in the last few games, but now it’s about results and we know it will be a tough test at Luton.”

He added: “We’re going to keep fighting for every single game and we haven’t been far away from a couple of results. Against Forest and United we showed what we can do and if we keep doing that, and I know it’s not easy, eventually we will get results.

“It’s approaching the game as we always do. That shouldn’t be any different and our mindset remains the same. Our performances have been good against top teams and tomorrow is something we will be trying to achieve.

“I look at Luton in the first three or four games and now, and they have improved, and I think the game being played now has probably benefited both teams.

“Last year were two really tough games against them and we expect that again. It’s a really organised and well put together squad. They have tried to find the right formula and they have settled on players who have done a good job last season.

“We’re going there with every intention to get the win and that’s our mindset every game. It doesn’t change tomorrow.”
